UML leader Nembang urges govt to submit all SPP-related correspondences to parliament



KATHMANDU: CPN-UML parliamentary party (PP) leader Subash Nembang has urged the government to provide all correspondences related to the United States State Partnership Program (SPP) to the parliament.

Stating that the letter written by retired Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Rajendra Chhetri to the US Embassy in 2015, fifteen days after KP Sharma Oli became Prime Minister, was made public following a dispute over the SPP, he recalled that then-PM Oli expressing ignorance towards the letter, claming he was not informed and has questioned its legitimacy.

Speaking on the occasion of National Parliament Day in Kathmandu on Thursday, former Speaker Nembang said the issue should not be ignored.

He added, “All the letters are in the Ministry of Defense. I urge you, Prime Minister, to submit all the letters to the Parliament without dealy. They will uncover everyone involved in it (SPP).”

He apprised the gathering that he called on PM Sher Bahadur Deuba for the same and, in return, was invited to dialogue by the PM.
