KMC Mayor Balen Shah takes oath of office and secrecy



KATHMANDU: Newly-elected Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Balendra Shah and Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol have taken an oath of office and secrecy amidst a program in Kathmandu today.

Chief Returning Officer Raju Kumar Khatiwada administered the oath office and secrecy to newly elected mayor Shah and Dangol at Rastriya Sabha Griha (City Hall).

Shah took oath both in Nepali and Nepal Bhasa (Newari) languages while Dangol took oath in Newari language.

Independent candidate Balendra Shah and CPN-UML candidate Sunita Dangol were elected as mayor and deputy mayor in the last May 13 local election.

Newly elected Mayor Shah also administered the oath of office and secrecy to the elected ward chairpersons and members of 32 wards amidst a program today.

Nepali Congress (NC) candidates had won chairpersons of 19 out of 32 wards in Kathmandu while UML registered victory in 12 wards. CPN (Unified Socialist) won chairperson of ward 15 in KMC.
