KUKL to distribute 170 mln liters of Melamchi water from Sunday

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) is set to distribute 170 million liters of Melamchi water in the Kathmandu Valley from coming Sunday.

This is the full volume of drinking water that the Melamchi Water Supply Project can offer.

The distribution of Melamchi water had resumed from Minbhawan from April 24. A total of 50 million liters of water had been supplied that day. The Valley is receiving a total of 140 million liters of water on a daily basis, currently, said Prakash Rai, the spokesperson of the KUKL.

With the 170 million liters of Melamchi water, the total amount of water to be distributed in the Valley will reach 270 million liters from May 1.

Currently, the water is being distributed from various distribution centers including Minnbhawan, Mahankalchaur, Khumaltar, Anamnagar, Balaju and Maharajgunj.

“The Melamchi Water Development Project will put 170 million liters of water into the system from Sunday,” said Rai, adding, “The Melamchi water will be distributed in all the areas from Sunday.”
