National Women’s League: Chandrapur, Biratnagar share points, Police down Army

KATHMANDU: Chandrapur Municipality Rautahat and Biratnagar Metropolitan City Morang shared points after playing out a 1-1 draw in the National Women’s League 2022 on Wednesday.

In the second match at Sharadanagar Football Ground, Nepal Police Club defeated Tribhuvan Army Football Club 2-1 and condemn Tribhuvan Army to a second defeat from their first three matches.

Mina Khatun opened the scoring for Biratnagar in the 41st minute before substitute Rajani Thokar leveled in the 51st.

Nepal Police scored twice in two minutes through Niru Thapa and Nirmala Upadhyay to defeat departmental rivals Tribhuvan Army.

Thapa scored the team’s first in the 14th minute and Upadhyay doubled the advantage in the 15th.

Tribhuvan Army had to wait until the 70th minute to halve the deficit through Punam Jargha Magar.

Dhangadhi sub-metropolitan city leads the standings with a superior goal difference over defending champions APF Football Club. Nepal Police, also on six points, move to third in the table while Tribhuvan Army is fifth.

APF will play against bottom-placed Waling Municipality in the first match on Thursday at 1:15 pm while Lalitpur Metropolitan City will face Dhangadhi in the second match of the day at 4:15 pm.
