Nepal’s bags second consecutive victory in tri-nation cricket

Malaysia loses by 6 wickets



KATHMANDU:  Winning Malaysia by six wickets on Wednesday, Nepal has reached the final of the Tri-nation International T20 series.

This is the second consecutive victory for Nepal. Earlier Nepal had defeated Papua New Guinea (PNG) by 15 runs in the first match of the series played in TU Cricket Ground, Kirtipur.

The top two teams in the series will play in the final for the title.

Nepal completed the target of 115 runs given by Malaysia by losing four wickets in 13 overs.

Asif Sheikh played a half century innings of 57 runs in Nepal’s victory. Similarly, Dipendra Singh Airee scored 21 runs.

For Malaysia, Jubaidi Zulkifle scored the highest 32 runs. In addition, captain Ahmed Faiz scored 24, Muhammad Amir 16 and Syed Aziz 14 runs.

Nepal’s captain Sandeep Lamichhane and Karan KC took two wickets each against Malaysia. Similarly, Avinash Bohra, Kushal Malla and Dipendra Singh Airee took one wicket each.

Now, Nepal will play its third match against PNG tomorrow.
