KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur has said the Buddhist philosophy is what connects the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).

Prime Minister Deuba said so while addressing the fifth summit of BIMSTEC from Kathmandu virtually today,

Deuba further stressed on the need to bring the Buddhist circuit into operation soon to connect Lumbini, the birth place of Gautam Buddha.

While underling the need to introduce the sustainable development programs at the earliest, Deuba also called for  stringent steps to curb the climate change.

Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Thailand are the members of BIMSTEC.

The last summit of BIMSTEC had been held in Nepal in 2018.
