Govt to deploy more than 250 security personnel for local polls



KATHMANDU: The government is making preparations to deploy more than 250,000 security personnel for the local level elections to be held on May 13.

Preparations are being made to deploy security personnel from Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force, National Investigation Department and temporary police as per the unified security plan prepared by the government.

Over 62,000 police personnel will be deployed from the Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal.

Similarly, 100,000 temporary police, 32,000 Armed Police Force, 70,000 from Nepal Army will be deployed, according to the plan.

Election Commission (EC) has said that there will be 10,756 poling stations and 21,955 polling centers across the country for the upcoming local elections.
