KATHMANDU: The Ministry of Labor, Employment, and Social Security has brought into operation a grievance redressal cell to hear complaints related to foreign employment.

Labor Minister Krishna Kumar Shrestha inaugurated the 24-hour call center under the Department of Foreign Employment at the Ministry on Sunday.

The Labor Ministry said the cell would hear issues, complaints, and suggestions related to foreign employment from youths at home and abroad.

According to the Ministry, it would try its best to address the received grievances at the earliest.

Minister Shrestha informed that the cell was accessible through various means, including telephone, Viber and Facebook, among other channels. He reiterated that his ministry would work to dispense justice to Nepali youths stranded in foreign employment destinations and take action against irresponsible manpower and their agents.

Minister Shrestha added that a martial team comprising the police and a quick response task force has also been created to address the victim’s complaint.

The Ministry said that arrest, investigation and necessary action will be taken against the person, manpower company or other organization involved in any kind of fraudulent activities in the name of foreign employment in accordance with the Foreign Employment Act, and other related laws.

The government earlier formed a martial team led by the Ministry’s Deputy Secretary Bishnu Lamichhane to rescue youths falling prey to irresponsible agents and manpower companies.
