Local level election impact: NEPSE gains 105.55 points Sunday



KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index has gained 105.55 points on Sunday – the first trading day of the week. The gain in terms of percentage is 3.80 percent. The index closed at 2,885.53 points.

The whopping rise in the stock market is attributed to the ruling coalition’s Saturday  meetings readiness to hold the local level election by mid-June.

Likewise, the sensitive index rose by 19.81 points to reach 538.53 points.

Sunday saw Rs 6.32 billion turnovers in NEPSE with 12,155,432 units of shares of 231 companies being traded via 81,706 transactions. The turnover on the last day of the previous trading week (last Thursday) stood at around Rs 3 billion.

Shares of five companies changed hands at a positive circuit level today as NEPSE gained.

Shares of WEAN Nepal Microfinance, Liberty Energy Company, Shivashree Hydropower, Nepal Infrastructure Bank and Buddhabhumi Nepal Hydropower traded at positive circuit level. Similarly, shares of Arun Valley Hydropower rose 9 percent while shares of Himalayan Energy, Progressive Finance, Himal Dolakha Hydropower and Karnali Development Bank rose more than 8 percent.

Share prices of 11 companies, most of which are debentures and mutual funds, decreased today.

The top stocks by turnover were API Power Company, Nepal Telecom, Himalayan Distillery Limited, Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company and Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower respectively.

All sub-indices have closed green.
