KATHMANDU: The police have arrested a youth in Bara on the charge of raping a minor girl.
The arrested has been identified as Akash Kumar Mandal alias Sunny Kumar Mandal, 23, of Musahar tole, Parwanipur Rural Municipality-2, Bara.
District Police Office, Parsa, said Mandal was arrested on the basis of a complaint of raping a 15-year-old girl on the night of October 9.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Deepak Giri said that the incident of rape took place on October 9, but the complaint was lodged only on October 25.
DSP Giri said the accused was arrested promptly after receiving the complaint and further investigation had begun into the incident.
Mandal, who was arrested, was working as a sweeper at Sparsh Multi Specialty Hospital located in Birgunj-14. The girl used to visit relatives admitted in the same hospital. After getting to know each other, the girl and the rape-accused began talking on the phone.
However, the girl side alleged that Mandal forcefully raped the girl on October 9.
