Former Judges Forum submits four-point letter as evidence for CJ Rana’s impeachment

KATHMANDU: The Former Judges Forum has submitted a four-point letter to the parliamentary Impeachment Recommendation Committee as evidence for the impeachment of Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana.

The former judges have demanded an investigation into the case of Ranjan Prasad Koirala by going through case-related documents of the Supreme Court.

They have also said a statement issued by them two years ago should be considered as a basis to impeach CJ Rana.

The former judges urged the impeachment panel to study a statement issued by them on October 22, 2021, expressing concerned about the injustice, distortion and inconsistency of the judiciary.

They also stressed expert investigation into the irregularities in the construction of buildings, including the Supreme Court’s.

Suspended Chief Justice Rana going against the Code of Conduct of Judges had given an interview on television last year. The former judges also demanded that it be taken as evidence and investigated.

The former judges have expressed their readiness to provide more information, if needed, into CJ Rana that could be of use.
