Foreign Secretary Paudyal hold talks with his counterpart in Caneberra



KATHMANDU: Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Paudyal, held talks with Jan Adams, Secretary of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia in Canberra on Monday.

The meeting between the duo touched on various matters of bilateral relations between Nepal and Australia and on further expanding and strengthening cooperation in different areas of mutual interests, according to a statement released by the Embassy of Nepal in Canberra.

On the occasion, the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of Nepal and the Government of Australia on Cooperation in the Fields of Water Resources Management was signed.

Dinesh Kumar Ghimire, Secretary at the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat of Nepal, and Adams signed the MoU on behalf of their respective governments.

A Nepali delegation led by secretary Paudyal reached Canberra on Monday to attend the Second Meeting of Bilateral Consultation Mechanism between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia, which is scheduled for Tuesday.

Other delegation members from Nepal include secretary Ghimire, Kailash Raj Pokharel, ambassador of Nepal to Australia, joint secretary Lok Bahadur Thapa and under Secretary Sita Basnet, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
