KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered Balen Shah, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, to respond within seven days in the contempt of court case.

A single bench of Justice Hari Krishna Karki gave the order while hearing the contempt case against Kathmandu Mayor Shah.

Advocate Deepak Raj Joshi had filed a contempt of court case against Mayor Shah.

Although the court had stayed the demolition of the illegal structure built by Norvic International Hospital with an interim order, Balen wrote on social media that the authority to take action against the structure built without passing the map and to pass the map should be given to the Supreme Court by amending the Constitution.

In the same case, expressing his displeasure over the delay in fixing another hearing, Shah shared a picture of his aged picture and wrote, “The next hearing of the case for which the interim order was issued has not yet come, maybe it will come after this term!’

Advocate Joshi sued Mayor Shah demanding action in the contempt of court case for the same.
