U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Lu’s video goes viral

KATHMANDU: US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu, who arrived in Nepal on Thursday, has given a video message to the people of Nepal.

In a video posted by the US Embassy on social media, Donald Lu describes his love, and his love for Nepal.

Even during his previous visit to Nepal last November, Lu had discussed his love affair with journalists.

Lu came to Nepal for the first time in 1993 when he had just entered the US diplomatic service.

He was then posted in Peshawar, Pakistan. He says he came to Nepal for a visit from Darjeeling in India.

In the video, he says after crossing the Indian border, they boarded a public bus.

“At that time I came with my girlfriend. Until we came to Nepal, we didn’t go dating,” Lu said. “We went to Janakpur, Sauraha by bus. Now we are husband and wife.”
