Chandragiri municipality clinches top position in taekwondo championship

KATHMANDU: Kathmandu’s Chandragiri municipality has clinched first position in the Second Mayor Cup National Taekwondo Championship held at Bharatpur in Chitwan.

Chandragiri topped the list with six gold, one silver and three bronze medals. In the championship, Gaindakot municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat-Susta-East) secured second position with 12 medals.

Gaindakot won five gold, five silver and two bronze medals, informed Bikas Shrestha, Chairperson of National Taekwondo Association Nepal Chitwan chapter.

Likewise, Bharatpur metropolis registered its third position with 12 medals. The metropolis gained four gold, seven silver and 12 bronze medals.

Madi municipality of Chitwan attained consolation award. The municipality won two gold, four silver and two bronze medals.

Pratika Thapa of Paiyu rural municipality (Parbat) and Sujan Karki of Chandragiri (Kathmandu) were announced to be the best players in women’s and men’s category respectively in the championship.

As many as 300 players had participated in the two-day tournament from all seven provinces.
