GANDAKI: The search of the Tara Air plane which went out of contact during flight from Pokhara to Jomsom has been zeroed in towards the base of the Mt Manapathi.

The search has been centered around that area based on the information given by local shepherds that the aircraft might have crashed on the base of Mt Manapathi, said Nepali Army Colonel Prem Poudel.

It is said it is three hours’ trek from Kobang to the place of crash suspected by the locals.

Administrative officer at the District Administration Office Mustang Devendra Raj Pandey said a Nepali army helicopter that has gone on a search sortie from Pokhara has landed at Kobang due to thick fog while another helicopter of the Fishtail Air is on standby at Jomsom Airport.

A team comprising Nepali Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel has been mobilized for the search and has left for that area by land route.

Search for the plane that went out of contact while en route from Pokhara to Jomsom has been intensified. It had taken off for Jomsom at 9.55 am.
