KATHMANDU: A team of 10 NA personnel and two officials of Nepal Civil Aviation Authority (CAAN) has set out to the location where ‘missing’ Tara Air’s pilot’s mobile phone has been traced.
A Nepali Army (NA) helicopter deployed in the search of missing aircraft landed at Nursing Gumba in Mustang. From the Gumba, the team set out to the location where the pilot’s mobile phone has been traced, said a CAAN official.
According to Prem Nath Thakur, general manager of Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Captain Prabhakar Ghimire’s mobile phone’s location was traced around TT Lake.
According to Thakur, NA and police teams have also been mobilized on foot. A Himalayan rescue team has also been dispatched from Kathmandu.
Earlier, a team of police and locals had checked a suspected crash location after the locals reported loud bang and fire from the area. However, the aircraft was not found there.
A total of 22 people — 13 Nepali, four Indian and two Germans and three crew members — were onboard the plane.
