KATHMANDU: Leaders of the Shekhar Koirala faction of the Nepali Congress (NC) have said they will protest against the leadership if the party president neglects the 40 percent votes received in the 14th general convention.

NC leaders close to leader Koirala held discussions at NC General Secretary Gagan Thapa’s Secretariat in Gyaneshwar to review the agenda of Monday’s vigilance meeting.

Leaders participating in the meeting warned that if the senior leaders of the Koirala faction are not accommodated in the parliamentary committee, then they would agitate across the country and would gherao party President Sher Bahadur Deuba.

One of the leaders said, “We will launch a nationwide agitation against the party leadership if the senior leaders of the Koirala faction are not included during the formation of the parliamentary committee,” adding that, they would pile pressure from all sides to make that happen.

The non-establishment faction leaders said that they might be forced to protest if Koirala faction is not provided equal opportunity and fair adjustment in party’s sister organizations, including the upcoming three-tier election.
