Two injured as IED goes off in Itahari



SUNSARI: Two persons have sustained injuries in a bomb explosion in Itahari Sub Metropolitan City-2 in Sunsari.

According to District Police Office, Sunsari, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off at a house based in Janajagriti tole in Itahari Sub Metropolitan City-2 at 10:45 pm on Monday.

The injured are Sherjang Gurung, 23, of Lamjung and Rabin Thapa. Gurung had been staying in Thapa’s room for the last two weeks. Thapa’s address is yet to be disclosed.

The IED kept in a bag had exploded, according to police. Thapa has sustained eye injuries. He is undergoing treatment at Eye Hospital in Biratnagar while Gurung is undergoing treatment at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, informed SP Sanjaya Singh Thapa. His condition is said to be normal.

Meanwhile, police have recovered a flyer of Himal Suraksha Parishad from the rented room of Thapa.

This Parishad has been staging an armed struggle calling for scrapping of federalism, it is learnt.
