PM Dahal, UML Chair Oli discuss govt expansion

Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and CPN-UML Chair KP Oli held a meeting at Prime Minister Dahal’s residence in Khumaltar on Wednesday to discuss the expansion of the government. According to Prime Minister Dahal’s secretariat, the leaders discussed various issues including the operation of the government and expansion of the Council of Ministers.

PM Dahal initiates efforts to bring Unified Socialist and JSP on board

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has initiated efforts to include the United Socialist Party and the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) in the government. Prachanda met with Madhav Kumar Nepal, Chairman of the Unified Socialist Party, and JSP Chairman Upendra Yadav.

Dr Pokharel appointed Attorney General

President Bidya Devi Bhandari today appointed advocate Dr Dinmani Pokharel as the new Attorney General of Nepal. According to the office of the President, President Bhandari appointed him to the post of Attorney General, in accordance with Article 157 of the Constitution of Nepal, on the recommendation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda”.

Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina congratulates PM Dahal

Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has congratulated newly-appointed Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.  She said “I believe your long experience will lead Nepal to an upper plateau of prosperity.”

Three earthquakes jolt Baglung

Serial of earthquakes occurred through different areas of Baglung district. According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, three earthquakes occurred through different epicenters in the district this morning.  As per the Centre’s information, an earthquake measuring 4.7 in the Richter scale went through with its epicenter in Adhikari Chaur, Baglung at 1.23 am this morning.

Lumbini Province assembly members to take oath on Dec 31

Lumbini Province Chief Amik Sherchan is to administer oath of office and secrecy to province assembly members on December 31.  A cabinet meeting of Lumbini Province Government held today decided to recommend Province Chief Amik Sherchan for the same.

RPP meeting: Majority in favor of joining govt

Majority of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Central Working Committee members have said the party should join the government. According to a central member, most of the leaders who spoke at the meeting held at the party office on Wednesday were of the opinion that they should join the government.

Kathmandu Valley reports coldest day of year so far

Temperature across the country including the Kathmandu Valley plummeted as the winter is taking its peak. Today, the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley dropped to 3.4 degrees Celsius and this is the lowest temperature the Valley recorded so far this year.
