Chhath Parba formally begins
The Chhath festival fervour has gripped the Mithila region including Mahottari with the festival formally commencing from today.
People’s mobility has upped in and around the region ahead of the four-day grand festival where the ‘Sun God’ is worshipped with devotion.
The devotees begin the festival from today onward by observing the ‘Nahay Khay’ rituals.
Ruling coalition urges to elect common candidates in upcoming elections
The ruling coalition of five-parties has urged its leaders and cadres as well as the voters to help elect their common candidates in the upcoming elections.
The voting for the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly election is slated simultaneously on November 20 this year.
In a joint press statement issued by the leaders of the political parties in the ruling coalition today, they appealed the voters to elect the common candidates.
Election Commission issues ‘Gender and Inclusive Policy-2077 BS’
The Election Commission has adopted a zero-tolerance policy against all sorts of harassment and discriminations at work place during election management.
Towards this, the constitutional body responsible to conduct and monitor elections has issued ‘Gender and Inclusive Policy-2077 BS’.
The Policy aims to contribute towards strengthening democracy by making all phases and procedures of elections gender-friendly and inclusive, according to Commission’s assistant speaker Kamal Bhattarai.
NC to release its election manifesto on Saturday
The Nepali Congress is releasing its manifesto for the upcoming elections on Saturday.
The manifesto is scheduled to be released at 10 am at BP Smriti Bhavan central office in Sanepa, Lalitpur.
The manifesto will be released in the presence of NC General Secretary and Coordinator of Manifesto Drafting Committee Bishwa Prakash Sharma and other officials.
All-party meeting strikes eight-point deal over Mahottari clash
An all-party meeting attended by local political workers, civil society leaders and local administration have reached an eight-point agreement over the clash between Hindu-Muslim communities that took place on Thursday in Bhangha Municipality-8 of Mahottari.
Upendra Neupane, Assistant Chief District Officer of Mahottari, said that the all-party meeting called by the District Administration Office, Mahottari, struck an eight-point agreement in relation to the incident.
Assistant CDO Neupane said that the curfew imposed in Bhangha Municipality from 4 pm on Thursday has been continued. He added the curfew is still in place despite the eight-point agreement regarding yesterday’s incident.
Home Ministry forms five-member committee to probe Mahottari incident
The Home Ministry has formed a committee to probe the Mahottari incident that took place at Bhangaha Municipality-8 in Mahottari district in course of ‘Kalash Yatra’, a religious procession, on the occasion of Chhath festival.
The incident took place on October 27.
The five-member probe team led by joint secretary at the ministry Shiva Ram Pokharel was formed acting on the ministry level decision, according to a statement issued on Friday.
Euro slightly appreciates against the US dollar
Euro has slightly appreciated against the US dollar.
Lately, the value of the US dollar was on the continuous rise before it becomes stable.
As per the foreign currency exchange rate determined by Nepal Rastra Bank for today, the buying rate of one US Dollar is Rs 131.69 while the selling rate is Rs 132.29.
Similarly, the buying rate of one Euro is 132.18 while the selling price is 132.78.
On Thursday too, Euro was stronger than the dollar.
Nepal sees 14 new coronavirus cases in past 24 hours
Nepal recorded a total of 14 new cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours as of Friday.
Of the confirmed cases, 12 were detected through the RT-PCR method and two through Antigen method.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 924 swab samples were tested in the past 24 hours.
