Former PM KP Oli undergoes successful gallbladder surgery

KATHMANDU: Former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has successfully undergone gallbladder surgery, with doctors confirming the procedure was completed without complications.

According to his secretariat, doctors at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital carried out the procedure without complications. The surgery had been scheduled in advance following medical evaluation.

Oli had a 22 mm gallbladder stone, which was removed during the operation. Doctors have confirmed that his condition is stable.

Earlier, Oli was arrested by police from his residence in Gundu. He was admitted to the hospital the same day citing health concerns.

Following his arrest, his wife Radhika Shakya filed a habeas corpus petition at the Supreme Court, claiming unlawful detention.

Later, the court directed authorities to complete the investigation against Oli and then Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak.

Although Oli was released, he remained at the hospital for the scheduled surgery.
