All-party meeting strikes eight-point deal over Mahottari clash



KATHMANDU: An all-party meeting attended by local political workers, civil society leaders and local administration have reached an eight-point agreement over the clash between Hindu-Muslim communities that took place on Thursday in Bhangha Municipality-8 of Mahottari.

Upendra Neupane, Assistant Chief District Officer of Mahottari, said that the all-party meeting called by the District Administration Office, Mahottari, struck an eight-point agreement in relation to the incident.

Assistant CDO Neupane said that the curfew imposed in Bhangha Municipality from 4 pm on Thursday has been continued. He added the curfew is still in place despite the eight-point agreement regarding yesterday’s incident.

He said that a decision on curfew will be taken by a meeting of the security agencies.

On Thursday, two Hindus and Muslims clashed during a procession organized by a Hindu youth organization called ‘Hindu Samrat Sena’. After 15 civilians and 10 policemen were injured in the clash, the local administration issued a prohibitory order in the area.
