Election code of conduct comes into effect from today
The code of conduct for parliamentary and provincial elections slated for November 20 comes into effect today.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dinesh Thapaliya said the poll body made the decision to implement the election code of conduct, 2079, from September 28.

Disgruntled Koirala faction organizes sit-in at Sanepa
Shekhar Koirala faction of the ruling Nepali Congress has organized a sit-in protest at the party’s central office at Sanepa, Lalitpur on Wednesday.
The disgruntled faction has run a vigilance campaign for ‘justice and equal opportunities,’ and asked the party establishment to amend the list of the proportional candidates submitted to the Election Commission.
Dengue claims four lives in a day, more than 27 thousand infected so far
Four people have died due to dengue infection in one day and the number of infected has exceeded 27 thousand by Wednesday, Ministry of Health said.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, four people died of dengue in the last 24 hours. With this, the death toll from dengue has reached 36. As of Tuesday, the number was 32.
Supreme Court to remain open during Dashain holidays
The Supreme Court (SC) is to remain open for four hours during the Dashain holidays.
The Court will remain open from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm to look after the habeas corpus writ, according to SC Spokesperson Bimal Poudel. This schedule will be in force till the Kojagrat Purnima on October 9.
Annapurna Trail lures more foreign tourists
Foreign tourists’ influx in Annapurna Trail has enthused the local tourism entrepreneurs.
The arrival of tourists, which was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and biting cold has gone up this tourist season.
Altogether 7,213 foreign tourists have visited the Annapurna Circuit since January 2022 till date, according to Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP).
Police takes action against 33 people for fleecing passengers
At least 33 people have faced action for fleecing passengers leaving the Kathmandu Valley for home for Dashain festival, said the police.
They defrauded the passengers through various means like overcharging transport fares and producing fake tickets, said Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Bhatta, chief of the Metropolitan Police Office, Kathmandu.
