Nepal imports aircraft spare parts worth about Rs 6 billion last fiscal



KATHMANDU: Approximately Rs 6 billion has exited the country for the import of aircraft spare parts in the last fiscal year.

According to the past fiscal’s data published by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB), airplane and helicopter parts worth Rs 6.285 billion was imported in the fiscal year 2021/22.

Compared to the previous fiscal, the import of aircraft spare parts went up by 60.4 percent.

Aircraft parts worth Rs 3.75 billion were imported in the fiscal 2020/21.

During COVID19 restrictions during 2020/21, air traffic was also affected for a long time.

According to the data, aircraft parts worth Rs 21.369 billion imported in the year 2019/20.

There are about three dozen helicopters and around five dozen airplanes in Nepal. These aircrafts are required to change their parts regularly in a certain period.
