Ruling coalition leaders meeting to discuss allocation of electoral seats



KATHMANDU: Top leaders of the five-party ruling coalition are meeting today as well to discuss the allocation of electoral seats among the parties for the November 20 elections.

The task force meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar.

The ruling coalition has leaders have been trying to settle the seat allocation for the forthcoming election for many weeks; however, the meetings so far remained inconclusive as the ruling partners remained adamant about their respective stances.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also a member of the task force, informed that there is a possibility of reaching a conclusion regarding seat distribution in the meeting scheduled for 4  pm today.

The task force formed under the chairmanship of Nepali Congress leader Krishna Prasad Sitaula for allocating seats has discussed the criteria but was not able to prepare a concrete proposal.

The ruling coalition partners are in talks with each other ever since the announcement of the date of the Federal Parliament and Provincial Assembly slated for November 20.
