Fire in furniture industry in Jhapa

JHAPA: Property worth Rs 1.5 million was damaged when a fire broke out in a furniture industry in Gauradaha Municipality of Jhapa this morning.

The fire originated reportedly due to a power short circuit. Gauradaha Payal furniture industry run by Muni Lal Sharma of Gauradah-1 in ward no. 2 of the municipality was damaged due in the fire, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Basant Pathak.

Due to the fire, a temporary hut and machine, wood and furniture inside the hut were burnt to ashes with the damage estimated to be worth Rs. 1.5 million.

The fire was completely brought under control with the help of Nepal Police, local residents, and fire tenders from Gauradaha, Damak municipalities and Kamal Rural Municipality.
