EC to update voters’ list from today

KATHMANDU: In view of the upcoming federal and provincial assembly elections, the Election Commission (EC) is working to update the voters’ name list from Sunday.

For this, the name list of the voters would be made public from the concerned ward offices and Election Offices on Sunday itself, the EC said.

According to the EC, the voters can submit their applications from August 29 to 31 in the District Election Office for correction if there were any issues including errors in name, personal details, the place for the voting and others.

Likewise, applications could be filed from August 29 to September 1 to replace the name of those deceased ones and those quitting Nepali citizenship.

Earlier, the EC was criticized for not working in this aspect.

The EC has already decided to allow Nepali citizens to cast vote for the upcoming federal and provincial assembly polls if they turn 18 years a day before the elections (November 19) but their names should be listed on the electoral roll.

With the completion of the voters’ name list update, the final name list of the voters for this poll would be announced on September 16.
