Burma’s popular Nepali singer Thapa passes away



KATHMANDU: Popular Nepali singer Padam Thapa of Burma has passed away.

Family sources informed that 76-year-old singer Thapa, who was undergoing treatment, passed away this morning.

He was admitted to a hospital in Mandalay a month ago due to high blood pressure.

Burmese Nepali senior writer Lakshman Neupane informed that the singer Thapa, who returned to his hometown in Kalain, died at his home.

His mortal body will be cremated at 2 o’clock at Omban Hindu Ghat according to Vedic tradition, said Nyaypane, a senior Burmese writer.

Thapa, a citizen of Burma, has sung more than one hundred Nepali songs.

He has composed and sung many timeless songs like “Varshako Jhari Jasto”, and “Mero Aasu Kina Bagirahanchha”, among others.

Thapa is known as the King of Voice in Burma’s Nepali music industry.
