Modern school to be built in Tehrathum with Korea’s assistance

TEHRATHUM: A modern school building is to be constructed at Pranami Secondary School located in Atharai rural municipality-4, Iwa of Tehrathum.

The 18-room school building will be constructed in partnership with Um Hong Gil Human & Ym Welfare Foundation Korea and Atharai rural municipality.

The foundation stone of the 19th human school to be constructed at the cost of Rs 30 million by the foundation and Rs 6 million by the rural municipality was laid amidst a ceremony on Friday.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Um Hong Gil, the Executive Director of Um Hong Gil Human School, said that a new history of the school has begun.

Stating that the students are the beacon of hope and trust of Nepal, Um said that the construction of the school building would help in the development of the country where the dream of the students would be fulfilled.

Nicknamed as “Tankle of the Himalayas”, Um is also the first person in the world to successfully scale 16 of the world’s 8,000-meter-high mountains.

Park Yun-sun, president of the Ym Welfare Foundation Korea, said the country needs to invest in education to make its future better. Stating that the foundation will continue to help the students to realize their dreams, Park, said that the construction of the building will help in the educational activities of the school.

The Korean donors who arrived at the school were warmly welcomed by the school family with a fanfare. The Korean donors have also distributed educational materials and uniforms to the students.

Donors including Um and Park were honored by the school family with local Dhaka topis (hats) and khadas (scarfs).

Expressing gratitude for the Foundation’s support in the development of school infrastructure, Provincial Lawmaker Tejman Kandangwa and deputy-chairman of Atharai rural municipality Baliraj Ingnam expressed their views on the occasion.

The construction work of the school building will be completed in two years, said school principal Amrit Budhathoki.
