“Me Too” campaigns planned as elections draw close: UML Chair Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli has said that ‘Me Too’ campaigns are timed for character assassination of candidates as elections draw close.

Speaking at a program in Kathmandu on Thursday, Chair Oli said there were no clarifications for campaigns such as ‘Me Too’.

“Such campaigns are brought to the fore as elections approach near. Simultaneously, attempts of character assassination are made core agenda. There is no clarification for ‘Me Too’ campaigns. We should not indulge in such things and rather should take forward more pressing issues,” said Oli.

Commenting on the context of UML Kathmandu metropolis mayoral candidate Keshav Sthapit being charged with ‘violence against women’ allegation, Oli said one should stop misleading propaganda.

He added that UML, since its inception, always protected and respected women’s dignity.
