KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Metropolitan City mayoral candidate Srijana Singh has made public seven commitments to be achieved if she wins in the May 13 local election.
Singh, who is a candidate from the Nepali Congress (NC)-led electoral coalition in the metropolis, unveiled the seven resolutions at a program organized in Kathmandu on Thursday.
The mayoral candidate’s resolutions include good governance, health, education, social education, clean air, sustainable environment and safe city. Similarly, she vouched for preservation of culture, heritage and civilization, building strong and prosperous infrastructure, strong youths, independent women and creative metropolitan residents.
At the program, she said waste management would get top priority if she got elected the mayor of Kathmandu metropolis. To achieve this, she put forward the concept of ‘Zero Waste Management’. She said, “If the garbage produced from households can be managed inside the households itself, then it would result in cent percent waste management.”
She also committed to solve problems of roads in the metropolis. “I will make Kathmandu a walk-able city that is free of pollution and traffic jam. I will ensure that are no potholes on the metropolis roads,” said Singh while apprising about her commitments.
Emphasizing that as a woman representative, she firsthand witnessed and suffered women issues and committed to prioritize solving them. “I will formulate a special program to address women issues,” she said.
She added special arrangements would be made for working mothers. “I will establish a child care center in Kathmandu in coordination with community schools. That way, the mother will know that her baby is safe,” she said.
She also assured provisioning clean drinking water in public places. Admitting that problem of public toilets in Kathmandu still exist, she said she would work towards managing public toilets in public places.
