15 women candidates in two sub-metropolises of Dang



DANG: A total of 15 women candidates representing various political parties are in the fray for the leading positions in the two sub-metropolis in Dang for the May 13 local level elections.

Of them, six women are contesting for the post of mayor and nine for the post of deputy mayor, according to the Office of the Chief Returning Officer, Dang.

Three women have filed their candidacies for the post of mayor in Tulsipur sub-metropolis and three for the post of Mayor of Ghorahi sub-metropolis. Four women are competing for the post of deputy chief of Tulsipur and five for the post of deputy chief of Ghorahi.

For the post of Tulsipur mayor, Jagadhani Chaudhary is contesting from Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Jaya Ghartimagar from Mangol National Organization Party and Prabha Chaudhary from Nagarik Unmukti Party, said Election Officer Rajeshwar Aryal.

Similarly, Sani Chaudhary from CPN (UML), Man Kumari Mahat from CPN (Maoist Center), Dhansara BK from Janata Samajwadi and Fagri Chaudhary from CPN (ML) are contesting for the post of deputy mayor of Tulsipur sub-metropolis.

Likewise, Sarita Devkota from Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Kalpana Chaudhary from Mangol National Organization and Shanta Chaudhary from Nagarik Unmukti Party are in the fray for the post of Mayor of Ghorahi Sub-metropolis.

Huma DC from UML, Shobha Kumari Shah from Unified Socialist, Laxmi GM from Bibeksheel Sajha Party, Radhika Chhetri from CPN (Marxist) and Basanta Kumari Bhattarai as an independent candidate are in the fray for the post of deputy mayor.

However, the ruling five-party alliance has not fielded a woman candidate for the post of mayor and deputy mayor of both the sub-metropolis, while the CPN-UML has fielded a woman candidate for the post of deputy mayor in both the sub-metropolis.
