Prime Minister Deuba to visit India from April 1 to 3
Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to pay an official visit to India from April 1 to 3.
Issuing a statement on Monday the Ministry of External Affairs of India has informed about Prime Minister Deuba’s visit to India. He will visit India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
According to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Deuba will be accompanied by his wife Dr. Arju Rana Deuba. Prime Minister Deuba will leave for India on April 1.
This is Deuba’s first bilateral foreign trip since becoming prime minister for the fifth time.
Kathmandu becomes the most polluted city in the world
Kathmandu has become the most polluted city in the world again.
According to IQ Air, which has been measuring air pollution in Switzerland, Kathmandu has become the most polluted city in the world. Kathmandu has an air quality index of 154.
Commercial banks unable to increase deposits, credit expansion only 2 billion
Despite making various efforts to swell deposits, deposit mobilization and credit investment of commercial banks has not increased yet.
By the fourth week of March, deposit mobilization in commercial banks has increased by Rs. 2 billion and credit expansion has increased by Rs. 2 billion only.
In the third week of March (first week of Chaitra), the bank’s deposit mobilization had declined by Rs 5 billion and credit expansion by Rs 4 billion.
NC CWC meeting concludes for Monday, to continue on Tuesday
A central working committee (CWC) meeting of ruling Nepali Congress (NC) taking place at the central party office in Sanepa has concluded for Monday. It is scheduled to continue on Tuesday.
Representatives of the districts deployed under the local election campaign have already submitted their reports in the meeting on Friday and Sunday.
The rest of the central members are presenting their views in the meeting today. There are 14 office-bearers in the CWC of the NC.
Despite assorted views on the electoral alliance arising from the CWC leaders, the NC is likely to take a decision in favor of the electoral alliance as per the principle of necessity.
NEPSE declines by 29.98 points and reaches 2542 points Monday
The stock market index NEPSE continued the downtrend on Monday, the second trading day of the week as well.
All subgroups witnessed a decline when NEPSE decreased by 29.98 points and reached at 2542.28 points today.
167 companies bore the loss when 21 felt a slight gain and five had their values unchanged Monday.
NEPSE recorded a total turnover of Rs 2.54 billion today.
Government plans nationwide typhoid vaccination for children
The Ministry of Health and Population is to administer vaccine against typhoid targeting children from 15 months to 15 years of age.
According to Ministry joint-spokesperson Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari, the nationwide vaccination campaign will kick off on April 8 and will conclude on May 1.
Acharya, Thapa and KC elected NRNA presidents
The 10th General Convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) held in Kathmandu has elected a new executive committee body led by three presidents.
The newly elected presidents are Kul Acharya, Rabina Thapa and Dr Badri KC.
Outgoing president Kumar Pant administered oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected presidents amid a ceremony in the federal capital.
EC decides to provide 73 small parties their own election symbols
The Election Commission (EC) has decided to provide 73 fringe political parties their own election symbol for the forth coming local election purpose.
According to EC spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Poudel, the meeting of the EC officials held on Sunday decided to give the small parties the election symbols they had got in the previous election.
For the local level election, 79 parties have registered their name at EC.
South Korean national arrested with 153 pieces rosary of Buddhachitta beads
The Kathmandu police have arrested a South Korean national in possession with 153 rosaries of Buddhachitta beads from Kathmandu.
A police team deployed to provide security at the Tribhuvan International Airport on Sunday night made the arrest of Sun Yung Jang with passport number 80909564 from the airport during a security check, said the police.
The arrestee was about to fly to South Korea via Doha on a Qatar Airlines aircraft when the arrest was made.
