KATHMANDU: 244 Nepalis affected by the recent crisis caused by Russia-Ukraine conflict have reached to the safe places.
According to the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), the High level Rescue and Relief Committee set up to help the Russia-Ukraine conflict affected Nepalis has been instrumental in helping Nepali reach to the safe destinations.
Issuing a statement on Monday, the rescue committee informed that out of the conflict affected Nepalis, 60 have left Ukraine for Poland, 12 each for Slovakia and Romania, four for Hungary and two for Moldova in its assistance.
In the meantime, 130 Nepalis were stopped at the border of Poland, 12 at the border of Slovakia, 10 at the border of Romania and two at the border of Moldova on the way to the safe destination.
They are expected to cross the border by this evening.
According to the NRNA Ukraine, 40 families have been living permanently in Ukraine.
A meeting chaired by Nepal’s Ambassador to Germany Ram Kaji Khadka on Sunday decided to take necessary steps for the safe relocation of Nepalis displaced due to the war.
During the meeting, Ambassador Khadka informed that the embassy had issued travel permits to 34 Nepalis displaced from Ukraine.
Dr. Badri KC, Coordinator of the High Level Committee and Vice-Chairman of NRNA, informed that the President of the Association, Kumar Pant Nepali, has been mobilized in the border area of Poland for the rescue.
