Maoist Center Chair Prachanda holding press conference at 3 pm

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has convened a press conference at 3 pm Monday.

Severely criticized for his allegedly ambiguous role in the US grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) ratification process, the Maoist Center Chair has invited the journalist on Wednesday afternoon, for the first time after the US grant project got ratified from the parliament.

Although Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda had written to MCC office in US promising to ratify the mega project within five months, the Maoist Center Chairman had of late started criticizing the compact.

The Maoist center had also staged a street agitation against the MCC.

After NC initiated talks with main opposition CPN-UML seeking support in the MCC ratification, alerted by the fact that the coalition might break again, the Maoist Center decided to vote for MCC attaching ‘interpretative declaration’ to it.

Prachanda is going to hold a press conference on the latest political developments.
