Election result of all districts but for three will come by November 29: Election Commission



KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has informed that the complete result of the twin elections held on November 20 will be received very soon.

Speaking to the media in Kathmandu on Sunday, EC spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel shared that the results of the general election will be public very soon.

“We have received the results of most of the places. Counting is on in some places. All results except of three districts Bajura, Dolakha and Syangja will be available by November 29,” he said.

According to the latest vote results, Nepali Congress has received the highest number of votes in the first-past-the-post election of the House of Representatives held on November 20.

According to the EC, Nepali Congress (NC) has won 53 direct seats in the House of Representatives till Sunday afternoon and has maintained a lead in three seats.

Similarly, CPN (UML) has won 41 seats and has maintained a lead in two seats. CPN (Maoist Center) has won 17, CPN (Unified Socialist) 10, Rastriya Prajatantra  Party (RPP) and Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) seven each, RSP has lead in one place.

Likewise, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal has won 6 places and has maintained a lead in one place. Independents won five seats, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party won four seats and People’s Freedom Party won three seats.

Due to some disputes over the remaining seats, the election and counting of votes were delayed and the results were not available on time.

EC spokesperson informed that the results of direct and proportional voting in all other districts except Bajura, Dolakha and Syangja will be available by Sunday evening or Monday.

He said that since the counting of votes is going on in the direct as well as the proportional voting, all the voting results except the three districts will be available by November 29.

EC will submit the details of the election to the President after receiving the final results of the general election.
