LSP leaders call on President Bhandari to draw attention to Citizenship Bill



KATHMANDU: Leaders of Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) have met President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Saturday.

In the meeting held at President’s Office, Shital Niwas, on Saturday, LSP leaders drew the attention of the President towards the Citizenship Bill.

They said, “All bonafide (genuine) Nepali citizen should not be made stateless.”

LSP President Mahantha Thakur, senior leaders Rajendra Mahato, Sarad Singh Bhandari, Anil Jha and other leaders reached Sheetal Niwas to meet the President.

They tried to convince the President saying that there is no need to worry about the content of the Citizenship Bill passed by the House of Representatives, as the President had also issued it as an ordinance.

In response, President Bhandari emphasized that citizenship was not the issue of a specific place/region but a national problem and a permanent solution should be sought.

LSP leader Jitendra Sonal, who participated in the meeting, “The President was positive about the discussions.”
