NC wins mayor, UML deputy mayor in Rupandehi’s Tilottama



RUPANDEHI: Nepali Congress’ Ram Krishna Khan has been elected as the mayor of Tilotta municipality of Rupandehi district.

Khan, who is the mayoral candidate from the ruling coalition, defeated his nearest rival CPN-UML candidate Mohan Chapagain by 765 votes.

While Khan secured 24,396 votes, Chapagain got 23,631 votes.

Similarly, UML candidate Jageshwari Devi Chaudhary won the post of deputy mayor.

Chaudhary, who is also the vice-chairperson of UML Rupendehi, defeated her nearest rival Hemlal Pandey of the CPN (Maoist Center) by a huge number of votes.

Chaudhary, who had been elected deputy mayor earlier, got 2386 votes while Pandey of the Maoist Center got 11546 votes.

In Tilottama, which has 17 wards, UML has won 8 wards and Nepali Congress has won 9 wards. Out of the total 85,747 voters, 63,588 votes were cast in the election.
