UML should apologize for not fulfilling its responsibility of running the country for five years: NC Gen Secy Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has said that the CPN-UML should apologize for failing to fulfill its responsibility of running the country for five years.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Thapa said that the UML, which had won a majority in the 2074 BS election, should apologize for not fulfilling its responsibilities.

“UML has to seek an apology before the people despite being the first party to govern the country,” he said.

Thapa also urged people to give NC a chance to lead the local governments.

He added that it was the government’s priority to make the local elections a success and the NC’s responsibility to make it the first party.

NC General Secretary Thapa also admitted that there were differences of opinion among the party leaders.

He said, “There are different views within the Congress at different stages. We decided to coordinate with the Maoists after a lengthy discussion.”
