NEPSE downtrend continues on Sunday

KATHMANDU: The stock market plunged by double digits on the first day of the week. The stock market index NEPSE dropped by 41.43 points to become 2572.23 points on Sunday.

Shares of all groups except non-life insurance declined today, while shares of development banks, manufacturing and hydro-power fell by higher numbers.

Despite the decline in the market, the transaction amount has improved significantly on Sunday. Out of the average daily turnover of Rs 3 billion in the last few weeks, 8.923 million shares of 232 companies have been traded at Rs 4.989 billion today. Api Power Company with the share transactions worth Rs 275.6 million had the highest transaction.

Shares of Multipurpose Finance fell the most at 5.5 percent today. Despite the decline in the overall market, the share of Jivan Bikas and Rastra Utthan Microfinance and Emerging Nepal Company rose by 10 percent Sunday.
