CWC meeting of Nepali Congress underway in Sanepa, Lalitpur

KATHMANDU: The Central Working Committee meeting of ruling Nepali Congress is underway at the party’s Sanepa based central office.

The NC is holding the CWC meeting targeting the upcoming local level elections slated for May 13 since Friday.  In the meeting, NC leaders have been presenting their opinion on the issues relating to upcoming local election and the electoral alliance.

The majority of Central Working Committee (CWC) members of ruling Nepali Congress (NC) have voiced in favor of contesting the upcoming local level elections without forming an alliance.

The voice in favor of contesting the local level elections alone was raised in the CWC meeting on Saturday at a time when party President Sher Bahadur Deuba was stressing the need to form an alliance in all the local, provincial and federal elections.

The main agenda items of the NC’s CWC meeting are to form the parliamentary committees to elect candidates for the local level elections and review an ongoing one-month-long door-to-door election campaign to win the favor of voters.

Presidents of all the seven provinces of the NC have already put forth their views on whether to form an electoral alliance in the upcoming local level elections.
