Ruling parties set to ratify MCC Compact thru consensus

KATHMANDU: If everything goes according to the plan, the Parliament meeting to be held on Sunday will start a discussion on Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

Likewise, today’s parliament meeting to be held at 1 pm is likely to be ratified with applause.

For this, the ruling coalition parties – Nepali Congress, Maoist Center and the CPN-Unified Socialist — have decided to ratify the MCC with an explanatory provision.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” and Unified Socialist Chairman Madhav Nepal, who held a meeting at Baluwatar till Saturday night, are preparing to ratify the MCC Compact.

The Maoist party, which has recently changed its stance on the Compact, is holding a meeting to give a final shape to its decision.

Likewise, the Unified Socialist party is also holding a meeting in this regard.
