Nepal sees 8,017 new coronavirus cases, 15 deaths in last 24 hours

3,143 cases in Kathmandu Valley alone

KATHMANDU: The country recorded a total of 8,017 new cases of coronavirus and 15 deaths in the past 24 hours as of Thursday.

Of the confirmed cases today, 5,816 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 2,201 from the antigen method.

Likewise, there are 2,402 cases in Kathmandu, 220 in Bhaktapur and 521 in Lalitpur, taking the total cases in the valley to 3,143 in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, there were 15 coronavirus-related deaths reported in the past 24 hours. With this, the COVID-19 death toll in the country is 11,687 to date.

Currently, there are 90,576 active cases in the country.

In the past 24-hour period, 5,292 infected patients recovered.
