25 Nepalis stranded in Saudi Arabia

Compelled to drink contaminated water

DOHA: A substantial number of Nepalis are currently stranded in various Gulf countries, including Saudi Arabia.

Twenty-five Nepalis who arrived in Saudi Arabia for employment are languishing in the country without work.

The Sinamangal-based Asin Overseas Pvt (Ltd) in Sinamangal had sent these youths to work as maintenance helpers at the Support Vision Company in Saudi Arabia.

Amar Pariyar of Dang, one of the stranded youths, said that they were in trouble after they could not find the Company that they were supposed to work in Saudi Arabia.

According to Pariyar, they had submitted Rs 150,000 to Rs 180,000 per person to Asin Overseas in Kathmandu.

“Even though we had been assured of free visa and free tickets in the agreement, the manpower collected such a large amount of money from us,” he complained.

“It’s been 12 days that we have been staying in one room,” he told Khabarhub.

Another victim Khim Bahadur Pariyar alleged the Asin Overseas Pvt (Ltd) for duping them.

“Manpower companies and brokers have tricked us into giving us good jobs,” he added.

According to him, the agent has been absconding since then.

“The room where we are staying now belongs to one of the supply companies. We have been told to go out. There is no drinking water here either. We have to drink water from the bathroom,” he added.

They have urged various organizations to facilitate safe return to Nepal.
