Far West United beats Kathmandu Knights by four wickets



KATHMANDU: Far West United registered a win over Kathmandu Knights by four wickets in Monday’s match played under the first edition of the ongoing Nepal T20 Cricket League in Kathmandu.

The match was held at Kirtipur-based Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground.

Chasing the 99-run target posted by Kathmandu Knights, Far West United achieved it in 19.1 overs at the loss of six wickets. For the winning team, Captain Hasma Tullaha Sahidi remained unbeaten on 50 runs off 49 balls with two sixes and three boundaries. Similarly, Dev Khanal hit 17, Bhim Sarki 11, Binod Bhandari four and Umar Ali one.

For Kathmandu Knights, Anil Kharel claimed two wickets, and Abinash Bohora, Basir Ahmad, Ajam Tullaha Umarjai and Rayan Burl one each.

Invited into bat after losing the toss, the defeating team made 98 runs in allotted 20 overs losing nine wickets. For the team, Alex Blake hit highest 45 runs, Capitan Gyanendra Malla 13, and Santosh Karki 12.

For Far West United, Ali took three wickets, and Bhuvan Karki and Sahidi two each. Likewise, Sher Malla claimed one. The competition has been participated by six teams.

Winner will get Rs 5.5 million in cash, first runner-up Rs 3 million, second runner-up Rs 1 million, and third runner-up Rs 500,000.
