India PM Modi congratulates newly-appointed PM Prachanda

KATHMANDU: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda for being appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said he looks forward to working together with his counterpart Prachanda to further strengthen India-Nepal ties.

“Warmest congratulations @cmprachanda on being elected as the Prime Minister of Nepal. The unique relationship between India & Nepal is based on deep cultural connect & warm people-to-people ties. I look forward to working together with you to further strengthen this friendship,” Modi said.

Likewise, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal also congratulated Prachanda on his appointment as the Prime Minister.

It was the first country to congratulate PM Prachanda.

Prachanda was appointed the Prime Minister by President Bidya Bhandari in accordance with Article 76 (2) of the Constitution on Sunday.
