SEE  result to be published  on Wednesday

The National Examination Board (NEB) has prepared to announce the national level examination of Class 10 popularly known as Secondary Education Examination (SEE) on Tuesday.

According to SEE Conroller Arjun Kumar Rayamajhi, the final preparations for the public announcement of SEE result are undergoing.

“We are in the final preparations. The result will be published tomorrow (Wednesday),” he informed.

CEC Thapaliya hints at holding federal election on Nov 20

Chief Election Commission Dinesh Thapaliya has hinted at holding the federal election on November 20.

Speaking at a press conference organized on Tuesday, he said that the next meeting of the Council of Ministers will fix the date of the election.

He was of the opinion that the Election Commission has suggested holding the election in a single phase.

“It will not be surprising if the next meeting of the Cabinet makes the decision to hold the federal election on November 20,” Thapaliya said.

Amendment to Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University Bill approved

A session of the House of Representatives (HoR) today (Tuesday) unanimously approved the amendment to the Madan Bhandari Science and Technology University Bill, 2076 BS received from the National Assembly.

Japan agrees to provide Rs 350 million for human resource development

Nepal will be receiving a grant assistance of Japanese yen 376 million (approximately equivalent to Rs 350 million) from Japan for implementation of the Project for Human Resource Development (JDS) Project in the year 2022/23.

The both parties signed and exchanged the notes to this regard amidst a program at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday (today).

Madhu Kumar Marasini, Finance Secretary and Tamura Takahiro, Charge d’affaires ad interim of Japan to Nepal signed the documents on behalf of their respective Governments.

CCTV footage quality degraded due to multiple transfers: Experts

Forensic experts have said that the quality of the Finance Ministry’s CCTV footage deteriorated as they underwent transfers to multiple devices.

The forensic lab of Nepal Police had on Monday submitted its report on the hard drive containing the CCTV footage of the Finance Ministry to the parliamentary special committee investigating budget tampering charges against former Finance Minister Janardan Sharma.

During the discussion, members of the committee had asked why the video clips were of poor quality and why even the date was not clear.

The experts answered that the video quality had deteriorated as they had checked the video clips by transferring them to multiple devices, according to a source in the committee.

Government to receive grant of Rs 1.37 billion for drinking water project

The government has decided to accept grant of Rs 1.37 billion for the Sustainable WASH for All project.

At a press conference organized at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday to disclose the decisions of the cabinet meeting held on July 25, Communications Minister Gyanendra Bahadur Karki shared that the government was accepting 10.5 million Euros from the European Union for the drinking water project.

The government has also decided to accept grant equivalent to Rs 950 million from the Swiss government for the implementation of quality technical and vocational education and training project in the first phase.

TU Examinations Controller fined for concealing information

The Examinations Controller of the Office of the Controller of Examinations of the Tribhuvan University, Pushpa Raj Joshi, has been fined Rs 20,000 for concealing information.

Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, the National Information Commission said a division bench of Chief Information Commissioner Mahendra Man Gurung and commissioner duo Kamala Oli Thapa and Ratna Prasad Mainali decided to fine Joshi as per the Clause 32 (1) of the Right to Information Act, 2007.

The verdict was taken from the Commission as per the appeal made by Rajib Das of Malihiya-5 in Rautahat district.

President appoints ambassadors to various countries

President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed ambassadors of Nepal to various countries in accordance with Article 282 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal and on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.

President Bhandari has appointed Dr Sharmila Parajuli (Dhakal) the resident ambassador to Spain, Milan Raj Tuladhar the resident ambassador to the Russian Federation, Prof Dr Ram Swartha Raya the resident ambassador to Denmark and Dr Shankar Prasad Sharma, the resident ambassador to India, as the non-resident ambassador to Bhutan also.

This is stated in a communiqué issued by the Office of the President, Sheetal Niwas.

NEPSE sheds 44.80 points

 The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index lost 44.80 points on Tuesday after gaining for two straight days in a row following the release of monetary policy for the fiscal year 2022/23 last Friday.

The index had gained 61.05 points on Sunday and 54.45 points on Monday.

The NEPSE index opened at 2,134.94 points and made an intraday high of 2,141.61 points today (Tuesday) while the intraday low touched 2,085.83 points and ultimately closed at 2,088.16 points.

Nepal sees 638 new coronavirus cases, two deaths in past 24 hours

Nepal recorded a total of 638 new cases of coronavirus and two deaths in the past 24 hours as of Tuesday.

Out of the confirmed cases, 400 were detected through the RT-PCR method and 238 through the Antigen method.

Two COVID-19 related deaths was recorded in the past 24 hours. With this, the COVID-19 death toll in the country climbs to 11,959 to date.
