NEPSE sheds 44.80 points on Tuesday



KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index lost 44.80 points on Tuesday after gaining for two straight days in a row following the release of monetary policy for the fiscal year 2022/23 last Friday.

The index had gained 61.05 points on Sunday and 54.45 points on Monday.

The NEPSE index opened at 2,134.94 points and made an intraday high of 2,141.61 points today (Tuesday) while the intraday low touched 2,085.83 points and ultimately closed at 2,088.16 points.

A total of 8,740,551 shares of 222 companies traded hands via 60,517 transactions, resulting in a turnover of Rs 3.70 billion. The turnover was Rs 4.10 billion yesterday (Monday) and Rs 2.73 billion the day before yesterday (Sunday).

Shares of Shivan Cements Limited registered the highest turnover for today while Arun Kabeli Power Ltd was the top stock by shares traded.

Multipurpose Finance Company Limited (MPFL) gained the highest for the day with 9.32 percent as Ganapati Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited lost the highest 6.82 percent today.

All sector indices closed red, “Others” lost the highest 3.56 percent while “Mutual Fund” lost the least 1.23 percent.
