KATHMANDU: Leader of the main opposition party in the House of Representatives (HoR), KP Sharma Oli has said the government’s policies and programs for the fiscal year 2022/23 have not addressed any pertinent topic.
Taking part in the deliberations on the Policies and Programs of the Government that started on Thursday in the HoR, he alleged that the policy and program document failed to address any problem facing the country.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari had presented the policies and programs in the joint session of the Federal Parliament on May 24. He sarcastically expressed happiness saying that the present government has brought forth the same policies and programs that were presented by the government under his leadership before this.
The former prime minister however expressed objection over the removal of the slogan, ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali’, which he claimed he had established.
Stating that the main opposition party stood for social goodwill, justice and equality, he urged all the parties to move ahead towards national interest.
The main opposition party leader urged the government to accept the report prepared by the Eminent Persons Group (EPG) comprising the representatives of the governments of Nepal and India, and also to inform the parliament about it.
Oli accused the government of dominating the main opposition party and not holding dialogue with it on matters of national interest, drawing the government’s attention over this. He remarked that most of the topics in the policies and programs were abstract and mistrustful of the government mechanism.
Oli alleged that the foreign policy has been reduced to a ‘vindictive and mere tool of power interest of the ruling coalition.’ He said the policies and programs have not included in it the ‘positive’ works brought by the previous government and neglecting the national requirements.
